Community Counts
Hornets expecting bigger crowds.
Rochdale Hornets is delighted to launch our new ticketing initiative Community Counts by linking up with community clubs from across Greater Manchester!
Bury Broncos, Limehurst Lions, Oldham St Annes, Rochdale Mayfield, Saddleworth Rangers and Waterhead Warriors have all been invited to both North Wales Crusaders and London Skolars at the Crown Oil Arena on June 27 and July 4 respectively as part of this initiative to get young players and fans involved.
Young players and fans are the future of our sport, and we can't wait to welcome members of these clubs at home to watch the likes of former New Zealand and Tonga prop forward Fuifui Moimoi, Wales international Gavin Bennion and experienced hooker Sean Penkywicz.
Chief executive Steve Kerr said: "I am delighted to announce our community counts initiative that welcomes community clubs to watch Rochdale Hornets as a thank you for all their hard work in growing the game.
"We believe that juniors should be able to a access the Hornets game day absolutely free and this initiative goes one step further by offering complimentary ticket to parents, volunteers and coaches who make rugby league happen at grassroots clubs.
"I spoke to junior secretaries and chairs this week and the passion and excitement really came through on those calls. We’re aiming to bounce back better and It’s great to welcome the community clubs to the Crown Oil Arena for the next two games.
"We’re really ramping up our game day experience and I look forward to meeting so many passionate fans and the next generation of players, some of which may follow in the footsteps of academy players Dan Nixon and Ben Forster and hopefully go on to represent Hornets in the future."
Chairman Andy Mazey added: "The grassroots of our sport are vitally important, so it’s absolutely fantastic to be reaching out to so many dedicated volunteers, coaches, parents and players from our community.
"The community game has always been and remains close to my heart, so I’m absolutely delighted we are welcoming partner clubs new and old and throwing our doors open to those already engaged with this great sport. These digital ticketing initiatives combined with a new focus and vision for our well established Community Foundation will not only help to develop vital links to our player development academy at Hopwood Hall and our well established ladies and wheelchair teams, but we hope to also engage new people in the wider community with the Rochdale Hornets brand which is all part of our strategy to put more bums on our seats on game day and grow the club."
