Jack Twigg links up with Hornets for 2027

Rochdale Hornets have completed the signing of young half-back Jack Twigg ahead of the 2027 season.

A former Normanton Knights junior, Twigg linked up with Betfred Super League side Huddersfield Giants in 2024, signing his first professional deal with the club. 

He went on to become a standout performer within Huddersfield's academy, also featuring for the club at reserve grade level. 

Alongside his playing duties, Twigg has also been working his way up the ranks as an RFL match official since 2025.

He was appointed to referee the annual Steven Mullaney Memorial Trophy Boys Year 7 Champion Schools Final at Wembley earlier this year - a trophy named after his late uncle, who capped a Player of the Match performance with a stunning solo try in the annual showpiece event for Wakefield Schools back in 1986.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to have put pen to paper and joined an established rugby league club like Rochdale,” Twigg said.

“The move really excites me and is definitely the best step forward. I can’t wait to get started and give the coaches, the players and the fans absolutely everything I’ve got.”

Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton said: “Jack comes to us from Huddersfield’s academy, looking for an opportunity to play and establish himself at Championship level.

“He’s a very skilful young player with a range of attacking options to his game, and he will add value to our group. 

“Being a young half-back, the experience of training and playing alongside experienced halves in Jamie Dallimore and Ben White will be invaluable for him.

“I’m really excited to see how far Jack can go. He has enormous potential, and hopefully he fulfils it with Rochdale.”
