TJ Boyd commits until the end of 2028

Rochdale Hornets outside back TJ Boyd has signed a new two-year deal, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2028 season.
Boyd has been a revelation since arriving from Leigh Leopards during the off-season, scoring 12 tries in 16 appearances.
He has starred on the left wing during the opening months of the campaign, producing a number of memorable moments - including a length-of-the-field score in the club's most recent outing against Goole Vikings in the 1895 Cup quarter-finals.
A product of Ince Rose Bridge, where he had played his rugby since the age of five, Boyd impressed at reserve team level for Leigh in 2024 and 2025, and has continued to rise to the challenge of regular Betfred Championship rugby.
We are confident that he will develop into a top-level performer, and are delighted to see him commit his immediate future to the Hornets.
The club can also confirm it fended off interest from rival Championship clubs to secure his signature, demonstrating the esteem in which he is held by others in the division.
“I’m really happy to get this deal over the line,” he said.
“It’s exciting to see where this club is heading, and I’m looking forward to being part of something good which we are all building.
“The challenge now is to keep pushing standards within our playing group, and giving fans the performances they deserve.”
Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "I’m very pleased to have extended TJ’s contract until the end of 2028.
“TJ came highly recommended by my good friend Stuart Littler and has really hit the ground running this season, quickly establishing himself as a fan favourite and popular member of the playing group.
“There is a lot more to come from TJ in the years ahead, and knowing that will be in a Hornets shirt is very exciting for everyone connected with our club.”
