Evie Corcoran signs for Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the signing of forward Evie Corcoran for the 2026 season.
The 19-year-old Irish forward signs for the club, from League 2 side Rochdale Mayfield.
“Joining this club means a lot to me, especially with me being born and bred in Rochdale," she said.
"Having earned this great opportunity to step up into a higher league at this stage of my journey is a dream come true. From the moment I arrived, all the girls made me feel really welcome and like I already belonged, which has made settling in so much easier.
"The coaches, Ben Bird and Rob Rigby, have also been brilliant. The belief and confidence they've shown in me has helped me back myself and push my game to the next level.
"I'm really proud of my Irish heritage and my surname, I'm very proud and connected to my roots. One of my biggest goals over the next 12 months is to hopefully represent Ireland and my family on the international stage.
"Being in an environment like this, surrounded by supportive team-mates and coaches who see something in me, makes me even more determined to keep improving and give everything I have for the team and club. I look forward to an exciting year as a Hornet.”
Women's head coach Ben Bird said: “I've known Evie for a long time through family, and one thing I know about her is she absolutely loves rugby league.
"Starting her playing career at Rochdale Mayfield last year, she found her feet as a young woman in the game and has decided to move to us as we move up to League 1 to continue to challenge herself.
"Evie is strong and brave, she's very honest about herself and sometimes over-critical. We're working on building that belief and rounding off her skill set, but she has so much to offer and so much potential to become whatever she chooses.
"I'm personally really pleased Evie has joined us. It will be a massive year of growth for her.”
