Ruth Jakeman signs for Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the signing of forward Ruth Jakeman for the 2026 season.
The 37-year-old forward joins the Hornets Women following a successful pre-season with the club.
“I'm looking forward to learning more about the sport," she said.
"It's going to be an enjoyable experience playing in the summer months, and I can’t wait to help the team continue to develop and grow with new ladies joining all the time.
"Thanks to my union girls, Claire Collins and Sam Brazier, for inviting me down - I'm ready to get stuck into the season ahead."
Women's head coach Ben Bird said: “Last year was an undoubted success for us built on our exceptionally talented and committed squad.
"So going in to this season, we knew to progress we would need newcomers to really bring something to the table. Seeing Ruth amongst the squad in pre season tells me she will do exactly that.
"She's very strong yet mobile, coming from a rugby union background A current Rochdale Valkyrie player, to me she seems made for rugby league.
"That combination of power and agility really does make me think that Ruth will have a huge impact on us as a team this year, and I'm as excited to see how she goes."
