Jamie Dallimore joins Hornets ahead of 2026 season

Experienced half-back Jamie Dallimore has been unveiled as Rochdale Hornets' first new signing ahead of the 2026 season.

Dallimore is no stranger to supporters of the second and third tier, having represented Oldham, North Wales Crusaders and Barrow Raiders during his career to date.

At Barrow, Dallimore was part of two promotion-winning sides and also helped the club to League 1 Cup glory in 2017.

Further success has followed for Dallimore on his return to North Wales after a period out of the game.

Crusaders were crowned Betfred League 1 champions for just the second time in their short history last month, boasting the best attack and defence in the division in the process.

With the departure of some experienced players in recent weeks - Martyn Ridyard, Gregg McNally and Duane Straugheir all hanging up their boots - the arrival of 37-year-old Dallimore will add a wealth of big-game knowledge to the dressing room.

We are confident that he will be a positive figure within the squad and can use his experience to guide a younger, hungrier team which is being assembled ahead of next season.

On the move, Dallimore said: "I'm really looking forward to this next challenge in my career, both individually and collectively.

"I'm looking forward to working with Gary Thornton and being part of Rochdale Hornets. I've always found it tough playing here throughout my career, but I'm really looking forward to running out there and having the cheers rather than the jeers!

"I'm looking forward to meeting the lads and ripping in with them and seeing what we can achieve together.

"The chat around the place is buzzing, and it's going to be special to be part of it."

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be bringing Dalli to Rochdale Hornets.

"When Gary and I met him, it quickly became clear that he understood our direction of travel and was eager to be part of it.

"His record speaks for itself and he's been a big part of a champion North Wales side this year. Therefore, it's a real coup for us to secure an experienced half-back, leader and a top-class goal-kicker to boot.

"I'm sure our supporters will look forward to seeing him in a Hornets shirt, and will join us in welcoming Jamie, Steph and the Dallimore family to this very special club."
