Hornets enter dual-registration partnership with Oldham

Rochdale Hornets have entered into a new dual-registration partnership with Betfred Championship side Oldham ahead of the 2025 season.

The link between the two clubs will offer some of Oldham’s first team fringe players the opportunity to gain minutes in League 1, when needed.

The two clubs have enjoyed many memorable encounters in recent years and have a strong working relationship off the field. 

As part of the agreement, when an Oldham player goes on dual-registration to the Hornets, that player will be eligible to play and train with both clubs. 

The player is restricted to play in one fixture per scheduled round of fixtures in any given week and would not be eligible to play twice for Rochdale and Oldham during the same weekend.

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: "I’m delighted that we’ve agreed a dual-registration partnership for 2025.

"Oldham will always be rivals when we are in the same division. However, it’s always a respectful rivalry, and it's clear they have recruited a very strong squad full of Super League and Championship talent for 2025. 

“I personally believe they will be pushing right at the very top of the Championship this year.

“Everyone now understands that the League 1 competition is set to be the toughest and most competitive ever, and while Gary and I are very happy with the squad we have assembled, injuries and other factors always play their part during the season.

“Therefore, having the ability to supplement our group with quality from Oldham strengthens our arm.

“I have developed a great relationship with Bill and Mike over at Oldham during the past couple of years, and we extend our best wishes for a successful 2025.”
