Rochdale Hornets 2025 squad numbers revealed

Rochdale Hornets' squad numbers have been revealed ahead of the 2025 season.

Two new signings have been given starting shirts, Josh Johnson receiving number eight and hooker Oli Burton taking nine.

Joe Taira will wear number 26 on his return to the Hornets, having worn number 13 during his previous stint at the club.

The Hornets have also given starting shirts to experienced outside back Lameck Juma, who moves from 22 to three, and Deane Meadows, who picks up the 11 shirt having worn 18 during the 2024 campaign. 

Luke Forber rises from 21 to five, having scored 23 tries in 19 appearances during a stellar 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Max Flanagan takes number 14 having worn 26 last season.

The Hornets return to action this Sunday, 12 January, against fierce local rivals Oldham in the return of the Law Cup.

Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton said: "The release of our squad numbers marks another important milestone ahead of the new season.

"What is clear is that we now have real depth in every position. That's something Andy Mazey and I have been working hard towards, to ensure we have the personnel needed to deal with a long and gruelling season.

“However, it is just a number and comes with no guarantees. It’s what's inside the shirt that counts, not what’s written on the outside.

“The lads will need to work hard consistently for a spot in the matchday 17, no matter what number they wear.

"They have been training really hard with the opening pre-season friendly against Oldham in mind and are eager to put what we've been working on into practice.
