Danny Yates re-joins Hornets for 2021

Danny Yates will return to the club for the 2021 season.

ROCHDALE Hornets is delighted to announce the signing of Danny Yates for the 2021 League 1 season. 

The half-back originally joined the club in 2013 on dual-registration from St Helens, where he played his youth rugby league. 

He returned again in 2015, and played a key role in our promotion to the Championship the following year.

Yates, who won the 2016 League 1 Young Player of the Year, returns to the club having played 2019 and 2020 with Batley Bulldogs in the Betfred Championship. 

He also captained England Under-16s, and joins recruits Rob Fairclough and Luke Littlewood in the 2021 squad. 

He said: "I know Matt is a top coach and Rochdale are getting a good squad together, with some good mates in there as well. 

"Last time I was at the club we gained promotion, and I hope to help them do the same again." 

Head coach Matt Calland added: "I am delighted to get Danny on-board for 2021. 

"He is another local lad returning to the club. He has a great skill set and is raring to go. 

"Welcome back to the club, Danny."
