MPs visit The Hive to learn more about community impact

Earlier this week, Rochdale Hornets were proud to welcome MPs Angela Rayner and Paul Waugh to The Hive facility at Balderstone Park.
The meeting provided both MPs with an opportunity to take a tour of our state-of-the-art setup, whilst also learning a little more about the benefits The Hive is bringing to our local community.
Officially opening in the summer of 2024, the Balderstone Park community facility plays host to men's training and is both the training hub and home ground for our women's team.
The Hive also features two purpose-built grass rugby league pitches, state-of-the art and fully DDA compliant changing facilities, a welcoming community room, and a first-class community café, all now operated by our own charity, the Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation.
Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: “The vision for The Hive came five years or so ago when it first came across my desk to do something unique and create a blueprint in our sport of rugby league.
"That dream was fulfilled thanks to the hard work of everyone who has contributed.
"None of this would have been possible without the belief of two dedicated local councillors, Philip Massey and Daniel Meredith, or the support of Rochdale Borough Council and leader Neil Emmott.
"Our mantra of good people doing good things extends way beyond the field of play."
