Lisa Berding re-signs for Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the re-signing of utility half-back Lisa Berding for the 2026 season.
The 29-year-old Dutch international re-signs for the club after a successful debut season during our promotion year.
“I’m incredibly proud and excited to be signing with Rochdale Hornets for the upcoming season," she said.
"After going unbeaten and lifting the trophy last year, it would’ve been rude not to come back and try to do it all over again.
"This club sets high standards on and off the pitch, and that ambition really stood out to me. It’s a group built on hard work, respect and constantly pushing for more - exactly the kind of environment I want to be part of.
"I know this season won’t be easy. Teams will be coming for us, and there’ll be tough games and even tougher training sessions. But with this group of women, I’m confident we’ll rise to the challenge. We’ve already shown what we’re capable of, now it’s about backing it up.
"My focus is to keep improving every week, compete hard, and do everything I can to help the team succeed.
"A big thank you to Ben Bird and Rob Rigby for the warm welcome, and to Matt Rigby for giving me the opportunity last season and trusting me again this year. I’m ready to get started and give it everything, and hopefully keep that unbeaten feeling going.”
Rochdale Hornets Women head coach Ben Bird said: “Having Lisa commit to Hornets this year is a fantastic statement.
"Having played at international level, her ability is beyond question. She's a very strong, well-rounded rugby player and fits into the environment we've built at the Hornets seamlessly.
"A naturally positive, supporting character, Lisa's presence gave a squad of young women the confidence they've needed in key moments.
"She's played in the forward pack, backs and halves for us, and that versatility was invaluable last year. Myself and the rest of the team are made up to have Lisa on board again.”
