Five Hornets Women named in Netherlands squad to face Greece

Five players from Rochdale Hornets' women's team have been named in the Netherlands' squad to face Greece in an international test this weekend.

The two sides will meet on Saturday afternoon (12pm kick-off local time) at Rugby Club Sparta, Rotterdam, with world ranking points on the line.

Eva Peroti, Hiske Blom, Kaylee Geerlings, Lisa Berding and Vera van der Zwan will represent the Hornets Women on international duty this weekend, in what is the final senior international rugby league fixture of 2025.

The Netherlands are led by Rochdale Hornets general manager Matt Rigby, who will take charge for the final time this weekend before stepping down from a role he has held since 2023, ending his 10-year association with the Netherlands national team. 

“We’ve had a strong last couple of years, and to celebrate that milestone by playing a repeat of our first ever match against Greece is special," he said. 

"This will be a completely different challenge. We’ve made 13 changes to our 19-player squad, so it’s a big test for a vastly different group. 

"But it’s one we’re excited for, and will show just how far we’ve come in such a short space of time.”
