Ross Whitmore signs new one-year deal

Rochdale Hornets hooker Ross Whitmore has signed a new 12-month deal, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2026 season.
Formerly of Hunslet, Whitmore left the Betfred Championship side to join the Hornets back in May.
He has gone on to start each of the club's last eight games, scoring a solitary try on debut against Newcastle Thunder back in Round 10.
Whitmore has impressed everyone at the club with his leadership qualities and has quickly developed into a crucial figure within the dressing room.
We are delighted to retain one of the division's best hookers and hope to see him help the club achieve its objectives moving forward.
"I couldn’t be happier to have agreed a deal for next year," Whitmore said.
"A big goal for me this year was coming to the club and rediscovering my enjoyment for the game, and I have done just that.
"After speaking with GT [Gary Thornton] and Andy Mazey, I feel like we are building something really good and I want to be a part of it.
“Hopefully I can play a key role in the team next year."
Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton said: “Ross has made a massive impact since joining from Hunslet mid-season.
“He has brought a real professional attitude to both training and a matchday and has raised the standards within the group.
“He’s a really fit lad and leaves his all out on the field. Ross is a winner, and has so many qualities that I look for in a player.
“I’m delighted he is re-signing. He will be a huge asset to us and a true leader within the group, both on and off the pitch.
“Without doubt, this is a really positive move for the club for 2026.”
