Update: Rochdale Mayfield vs. Rochdale Hornets

Rochdale Hornets Women can today confirm the latest update on the postponed away fixture against Rochdale Mayfield.

The club can confirm that a proposal was submitted to the RFL Women’s Management Group (WMG) regarding the rescheduling of our postponed fixture against Rochdale Mayfield.

Our proposal sought to play the away fixture against Rochdale Mayfield on Sunday 7 September, 2025. This arrangement would have required our home fixture against Heysham Atoms to be moved to Sunday 28 September, with Rochdale Hornets agreeing to relinquish home advantage and for the fixture to count as a double-point game.

Unfortunately, this proposal was rejected by the RFL WMG. The following statement was provided by the Management Group:

Rochdale Mayfield vs Rochdale Hornets This fixture was due to be rescheduled on 07/09/2025, subject to Heysham Atoms and Rochdale Hornets being permitted to play a double points game on 21/09/2025. However, the Management Group has confirmed that double points games will not be permitted, due to their potential to disproportionately impact League standings and compromise the overall integrity of the competition.

As the fixture was postponed by Rochdale Mayfield within the 14-day window and no alternative date can be agreed, the fixture will be marked as a forfeit, and the points will be awarded to Rochdale Hornets. We will update the system shortly to reflect this.

While we are naturally disappointed not to have had the opportunity to play the fixture on the field, we acknowledge the league’s commitment to consistency and competition integrity.
