Jack Darbyshire rejoins Hornets on season-long loan move

Rochdale Hornets have re-signed centre Jack Darbyshire on a season-long loan deal from Super League club Leigh Leopards.
Darbyshire returns to the Crown Oil Arena after impressing on loan for the Hornets last season, where he scored three tries in 10 appearances.
The former Warrington Wolves scholar, who joined Leigh ahead of the 2024 campaign, has featured heavily for the Leopards’ reserves this season, gaining valuable experience in a full-time environment.
His arrival provides Gary Thornton with some much-needed cover in the backs, with Myles Harrop set to spend time on the sidelines after picking up a shoulder injury in the defeat to North Wales Crusaders last time out.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to Rochdale,” Darbyshire said.
“I enjoyed my time here last year, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team wherever I can.”
Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton added: “It’s really good to have Jack back on board for the remainder of this season.”
“We lost Myles to a shoulder injury against North Wales Crusaders, which has required surgery, and he will be a huge miss.
“So to get Jack in will strengthen our outside back options, and we thank Leigh for their help and cooperation.
“Jack spent most of last season with us, so he knows our systems and philosophies and will be a welcome addition.”
Chairman Andy Mazey was delighted to secure the services of the talented outside back, saying: “With the injury to Myles Harrop, we are light in the centres, and Jack is someone we know well, having spent time with us last year.
“He's full-time with Leigh and is a quality player, but also a quality person with a fantastic attitude, so it's great to welcome him back.
“I'd like to thank Derek [Beaumont] and Juksey [Neil Jukes] over at Leigh for their help and support on this one.”
