Details confirmed for 2025 Superhero Day

This August, Superhero Day returns to the Crown Oil Arena as Rochdale Hornets take on Betfred League 1 rivals Whitehaven.

Following the success of our inaugural Superhero Day event against Cornwall in May 2024, the concept will return for the Hornets’ next home fixture.

Whitehaven visit the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday 3 August, with adult tickets priced at just £10.

Under 16s will also be able to attend the fixture free of charge - as has been the case all season - as the club looks to engage with more young supporters from across the borough.

Tickets for the Round 18 clash are on sale now.

With both teams currently pushing for a top-four spot in League One, it promises to be an intriguing showdown at a crucial point in the season.

Last year, more than 850 supporters joined us for Superhero Day, and we hope to far exceed that number this time around.

Superhero Day is the third of our ‘Project 1500’ fixtures, aimed at driving up crowds in 2025 and beyond.

As part of our push to make the event an action-packed day for supporters of all ages, we are delighted to confirm that the Smiths Metal Family Stand will be open for this fixture.

The stand will open for a Hornets fixture for the first time since 2019, bringing great pride to everyone at the club - including director Jason Wilson, who proudly sponsors the Smiths Metal Family Stand.

In the stand, supporters can enjoy a modernised family bar and seating area, additional toilets and a food kiosk.

Rochdale Hornets general manager Matt Rigby said: “Superhero Day 2025 is shaping up to be our biggest and best yet.

“Off the back of the fantastic support we saw last year, we're thrilled to be opening up the Smiths Metal Family Stand to accommodate what we hope will be one of our largest crowds of the season.

“This is more than just a themed matchday - it’s a full community celebration, and we’re calling on everyone in Rochdale to come out in force, get behind the squad and be part of something special.
