Rearranged date confirmed for Law Cup
The 2025 Law Cup between Oldham and Rochdale Hornets will now take place at Boundary Park on Wednesday 22 January (7:30pm kick-off).
The fixture was originally scheduled for last weekend before falling foul of the freezing conditions which plagued much of the UK's sporting schedule.
The two clubs have since been working to find an alternative date to play the fixture, in preparation for the 2025 season. Tickets will remain valid for the new date.
Tickets, priced at £12 for adults and concessions, are on sale now. Seating for the fixture will be unreserved.
Supporters under the age of 16 can attend free of charge but must purchase a ticket in advance. At checkout, the code Freechild1 must be used.
PLEASE NOTE: A maximum of two under 16s can attend free of charge with an accompanying adult. Any additional under 16s joining their accompanying adult will be required to pay a £5 entry fee.
The Law Cup is a traditional pre-season game between Oldham and Rochdale, dating back to 1921.
The game’s original title was the Infirmaries Cup, and proceeds from the game were distributed between hospitals in the boroughs of Oldham and Rochdale. The cup itself was donated by the Rochdale MP, Mr A.J.Law, and the winners received gold medals, “the gift of Rochdale and Oldham gentlemen”.
The competition subsequently became known as the Law Cup, in commemoration of its original donor.
The annual pre-season fixture was last staged in January 2023, when Oldham ran out narrow 18-14 winners at the Vestacare Stadium.
