Promising young forward Toby Brannan pens new deal
Rochdale Hornets forward Toby Brannan has signed a new one-year deal, extending his stay at the club until at least the end of the 2025 season.
The 21-year-old will move into his third year at the Crown Oil Arena, following his arrival from Wigan Warriors ahead of the 2023 campaign.
Over the past two seasons, the young prop forward has primarily been used off the bench, having done so in 14 of his 22 Hornets appearances to date.
On the new deal, Brannan said: “Gary Thornton spoke to me about the goals for the new season, and it’s clear to see there’s a good plan in place.
“In the end, it was an easy decision to stay around. We’ve got a good group of lads and should be challenging at the higher end of the table once again this season.
“Hopefully we can push on, go one better and achieve promotion.”
Rochdale Hornets head coach Gary Thornton said: “I’m delighted that Toby has re-signed. This will be his third season with us, and he has improved year on year.
“We work hard to try to develop young talent, and this year I expect Toby to step up and be a regular name on the teamsheet.
“He’s been very patient and worked hard at understanding our structures and what is required to play regularly at this level.
“He's also a really popular member of our group, and I hope he has a big season in 2025.”
