Lameck Juma extends Hornets stay for 2025

Experienced Rochdale Hornets outside back Lameck Juma has signed a new one-year-deal which will see him remain at the club for the 2025 season.

The 33-year-old enjoyed a successful first year at the Crown Oil Arena, making a total of 12 appearances and scoring twice as the Hornets reached the Betfred League 1 play-offs.

He had previously spent the entirety of his playing career in the capital, featuring for London Broncos and London Skolars.

“I am very excited to have signed a new deal with the Hornets, off the back of a fantastic season,” Juma said.

“I have enjoyed being part of a dynamic team that is full of potential, and I want to thank Gary Thornton and his staff for their commitment to the club and pushing us as players to bring our best game.

“I would also like to extend my gratitude to the fans for their support throughout the year.”

Rochdale Hornets chairman Andy Mazey said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement to secure Lameck’s services and extend his stay until at least the end of 2025.

“LJ has become a real fan favourite with his powerful no-nonsense displays, and he gives Gary great options on the wing, at centre, or even in the back row. He is a real handful for any defence in League 1.

“This is another big piece of business, and I know it is news our supporters really wanted which makes it even sweeter.”
