BREWIN THE LATEST HORNET TO PEN NEW CONTRACT

Rochdale Hornets have re-signed exciting back row or centre Dan Brewin for the 2024 season.
The Warrington Wolves academy product has been a mainstay of Gary Thornton’s team this season after initially joining the club on loan during the 2022 campaign. Having made the move permanent ahead of this season, Brewin’s performances have been a key factor in the side’s play-offs push.
The 20-year-old said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first full season at the club and everyone has been great with me. Now we’re really hoping to push for a play-off place and finish the season well.
“Next year I think we can be more competitive at the top end of the table. I’d like to thank everyone who helped to get this sorted and can’t wait to continue my Hornets career.”
Brewin is coach Thornton’s second re-signing for the 2024 season following the recent announcement of Lewis Else’s new deal, with both players set to feature in Sunday’s crunch local derby with local rivals Oldham at the Crown Oil Arena.
Hornets chairman Andy Mazey sees Brewin as an integral member of the clubs squad. Mazey said: “We have spoken about the improved culture here at Rochdale, and also about the young team we are building. This is only possible by retaining dedicated young professionals like Dan who are developing under Gary’s tutorage in a professional environment.
“Dan is a tough no-nonsense back row or centre with a fantastic attitude to training and playing, which made him one of our main priorities to retain on a new deal in 2024. I’d like to thank his agent Kev Brown for his help in getting this one over the line and sorted so quickly.”
