ROCHDALE HORNETS SPORTING FOUNDATION
We were founded in 2014 with the simple aim of having more people play rugby league more often.
With the help of dedicated community coaching staff and our foundation management team we have made huge steps towards achieving that goal. Our work doesn’t stop here though, and we will continue to work towards providing fun and unique opportunities for the local community.
Using the power of professional sport, we will inspire children and adults to lead a healthier, fuller life and take a pride in their local community by using a variety of fun, engaging quality assured programmes.

WOMENS RUGBY LEAGUE
New players are welcome to Rochdale Hornets ladies team, with training being held at Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale. “This year we are planning on building on last year’s successes, where we were able to build a team from scratch and within a season, build a competitive team which had to play against teams who had been playing together for years,” said head coach David Chrimes. “Half of the team had never played rugby league before, so they needed to be taught how to pass, tackle and run. “That being said, we are looking forward to improving in all areas. “In attack we scored some great tries, where we could use our handling skills and extra pace to outflank the opposition. “But the most important thing this year is to help the team build their confidence, and with the girls supporting each other in all areas of their lives. “This will help build their team spirit and help them find the physical and mental strength to grow individually and as a team. “We are very excited to be training alongside the men’s side at Hopwood Hall College, using their fantastic facilities. “We hope to see plenty of faces down in a week’s time.” Please register your interest by emailing foundation@hornetsrugbyleague.com.

BACK ONSIDE
Back Onside is a scheme that is implemented across rugby league with the intention of reintroducing men to exercise. We host sessions for men aged 35 to 60 that use rugby league to promote help men improve their physical and mental health, while also meeting like-minded blokes at the same time. Our first phase of Back Onside was the largest in the UK, with over 30 men participating regularly - the maximum number possible! Keep an eye on our social media feeds for details of our latest sessions.
