Matt Calland reacts to Doncaster defeat

Matt Calland gives his thoughts following the loss

Head coach Matt Calland gives his thoughts following the 30-22 defeat away to Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.

A slow first-half combined with errors saw Hornets fall to a 18-0 scoreline, before Shaun Ainscough scored his first of the season just before the half-time hooter.

Despite a stronger second half performance that saw tries from Zac Baker, Luke Fowden and Jack Higginson, Doncaster's lead was too much for Hornets which saw the home side secure the two league points.

Reacting to the defeat, Calland said: "I'm very disappointed with the result against Doncaster. We obviously started the game very poorly and gave ourselves too much to do.

"We looked a different team in the second half and created enough chances to win the game, but there were too many errors and penalties and we need to tidy up on both those areas.

"I’m convinced we will bounce back from this."

Hornets return to action on Sunday, May 23 away to Keighley, but away fans are not permitted to travel to this game due to local guidance from the home side.
