MOMENT OF THE DECADE - SUMMER BASH COMEBACK 2017

Our emphatic Summer Bash win in 2017 is the fifth and final option on our short list for moment of the decade.

Hornets headed into their first Summer Bash in front of the Sky cameras on the back of 10 defeats in a row. Desperate for a win, they were up against a side in similar peril in local rivals, Oldham.

It was a game filled with incident and controversy, and it looked bleak for Hornets. Roughyeds had opened up a 20-point lead, with the game all but put to bed, but a flawless second half chase from Hornets had the travelling Rochdale faithful in dreamland. 

Tries from Miles Greenwood, Jake Eccleston, Rob Massam, Ben Moores, Jordan Case and a run-away eight-point try from Lewis Galbraith handed Hornets a famous win by the seaside.

The game provided a springboard for the rest of the campaign with Hornets picking up wins from teams around them and eventually finishing in a healthy ninth spot.
